Cloud for Legal Case Study

This law firm focuses on business immigration services. Based out of New Jersey, this legal organization helps startups access the talent they need for their businesses. The law firm provides legal counsel to skilled employees who are looking to work in the U.S. and offers assistance in filing applications for immigrant and non-immigrant visas, residency status, and citizenship.

Challenge

SECURE REMOTE ACCESS AND SUPPORT

With the government mandate that shut down office buildings, prohibited travel, and canceled large gatherings, the client was concerned about the productivity of its employees and the risk of not being able to access business-critical applications and files.

Another significant concern was security. With new cloud technology, the business needed to augment existing security policies and incorporate next-generation security updates to combat threats from cyberattacks and human error. Lastly, the client needed reliable end-user tech support to resolve any connectivity issues and handle troubleshooting.

Approach

INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE TO THE RESCUE

Together, we and their MSP provided an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution to solve their business challenges and meet their IT needs. Our IaaS solution migrated the client’s entire IT environment to the cloud for on-demand storage, automatic updates and patching, enterprise-grade security, and robust infrastructure tools and utilities.

We now host the client’s infrastructure in SOC 2, Type II-audited and PCI-DSS-certified data centers, complete with top-of-the-line servers and Tier 3 data encryption and backed by an all-10GB network.

Results

The client benefited from improved performance as we supported high-volume workloads across networks. IaaS enabled the law firm to offload tedious infrastructure responsibilities to us, so it can now better focus on serving its clients.

With their infrastructure in the cloud, the company can scale its business more easily and efficiently. In addition, the client eliminated high capital expenses for on-premises equipment. Instead of paying $20,000 upfront for new servers, the company sees a predictable monthly cost for the solution and managed services, enabling them to reallocate their budget for other projects.

Takeaways

Hosting and maintaining your own servers doesn’t always make the best financial sense. By going with a managed solution provider, the company was able to reduce costs while increasing the reliability of remote access and support. That’s fewer headaches for everyone!
